It’s the first to roll off Nissan’s newest and most efficient paint plant in the world, established at the Smyrna plant in Tennessee. The factory recently started making the Infiniti JX and the Nissan Leaf electric vehicle, and is expected to produce the new Rogue crossover as well, so the upgrade was much needed.
At the Washington Auto Show today, Nissan outlined its strategy for tripling the current electric vehicle quick-charging infrastructure in the United States with the addition of at least 500 quick-charging stations in the next 18 months, including the greater Washington D.C. area’s first fast-charge network.
Although the media keeps telling us that hybrids and electric cars aren’t selling well, the facts tell a different story.
Daimler AG (DAI.XE), Ford Motor Co. ( F ) and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. (7201.TO, NSANY) have agreed to jointly develop a common fuel cell electric vehicle system in a bid to develop what they say will the world’s first affordable, mass- market fuel cell electric vehicle as early as 2017.
